Problem

Surfers often face challenges in accessing accurate, real-time wave conditions, and traditional weather apps lack the specific information surfers need. Many surfers also struggle finding other to surf with. Both these issues can make the experience less enjoyable and potentially unsafe.

Context

This was a solo project focusing on research, UX and prototyping during my second year of university.

Approach

This project was split into three phases

Research -  User Research, Competitor Analysis, User Personas

Ideation - Brainstorming, User Scenarios and Storyboards, Information Architecture

Design - Paper Sketch, High Fidelity wireframe, XD Prototype, User testing

To understand the projects problem and audience, I began researching both the surfer demographic and possible competitor solutions. This would help me understand the  potential app users and their pain points. This information will then be used in inform the design.
